Farina this one for you .......cakoi .......Oil fry GHOSH ...2008


Oil fry Ghost I always call this
Farina ask me for the recipe so here is it

300g of plain flour sieve
1 tsp of yeast
1 tsp of baking powder
1 tsp of sugar or a bit more if u like a bit sweet
1/2 tsp of salt
mix all the ingredient into a big bowl
add in the hot water *not boil *
mix it into a dough and leave it to rise
for 0ne to two hour is fine .make sure cover it with a tea cloth and leave in the room temp

then
look at the below picture
u will get to know all about it



the slim u cut the bread will more puff when u fry it





stick two slips together so when u fry it it will look like the
oil fry ghost




make sure when u fry it fast turn it round so it will rise and will puff up too


look if the bread is slim u can see after fry is hollow and it test real nice

cos my fryer is not a wok so my bread is short

Hello Pearly,
I love eating char kueh too. I bought once from asian store but no longer fresh, it's also soggy that time, eww. SO I didn't bother to buy again. Thanks for sharing.

hey, you cure stephanie's roller huh to roll the dough? Must be from her masak masak when she plays cooking and tea time. hehehehehhe. It's a good idea though, make use of kid's toy to became adult's cooking utensil..hahha

this is so call recycle the use toy hehehehe .
the next time if you really fancy char kueh u can make lot and freeze it and defrost then put it back to the oven for 10/ 15 min . you will have a fresh one .
and cheap cheap too .
hope your flu will gone soon .

oh thank u so much Pearly. i bot the baking powder yesterday so im ready to make this. i will def post it when its done. but how much hot water shud i use?

hi dear Farina :

you add hot water a little at the time to mix the flour turn in to a soft dough. i didn't measure the water just add in that all .

tried making them yesterday but the dough didn turned out right. maybe too much water. didn even rise. :((

farina dear :
the dough don't rise the same as bread , it only rise a little when u fry then u will see it puff when u add the water make sure add it a little at the time and mix it the flour until it turn into a soft dough
the dough will a bit stick is ok and just leave it at the room temp for 1 to 2 hour then u add a little flour to kneed it then u make it like wat I did by the picture

wow this look so good.Never make this.I always thought cakoi is very difficult to make.:)should try one day.
